I know these parties are hard to go to because you feel obligated to buy something but PLEASE DON'T if you know me you know I really could care less I truly thought this would be a fun way to get back involved with everyone again since I have been working so much.
If you have a chance RSVP if not my door will be open and if you can't make it but have heard a friend asking if you knew where to get Pampered Chef stuff you'll actually have an answer for them (at least until the 12th.....) I really hope to see you there!

Get on the Road to Safety

The Queen Creek Fire Department, in conjunction with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, presents the "Get on the Road to Safety" celebration at Queen Creek Marketplace. The event will focus on educating the public on vehicle safety while offering fun family activities for the community. The event will run from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the center and will feature displays and demonstrations from several Queen Creek public safety departments.

Using the Jaws of Life, the Queen Creek Fire Department will demonstrate the process of cutting passengers out of a vehicle damaged from a high-speed crash and treating them for life threatening injuries.

The Fire Department will demonstrate the process of extinguishing a car fire, live!

Community residents are invited to bring their collectible and historic cars to display at the no-host car show at the event. There will be no entry fee to display a car, and the first 200 cars on display will receive event goodie bags filled with great gifts. The car show will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with a manager’s choice award presented by the Marketplace Manager at 1 p.m.
Enjoy displays of antique fire trucks, antique police cars, an Air‑Evac helicopter, road equipment and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office vehicles. Learn how to properly install a car seat and the correct way to use a fire extinguisher through a state-of-the-art computerized demonstration. Enjoy food samples from the restaurants at Queen Creek Marketplace and browse displays from center retailers and other community businesses while visiting the event.

Kisses for Callie

Hello family and friends! As many of you know, Jarrett's cousin's 20 month old daughter Callie was backed over by a car driven by a family friend a couple of weeks ago. She is still in the hospital with a long road ahead. As an upcoming Evening in Excellence Value project, Brittany has chosen to organize and run a benefit yard sale with the proceeds going to Callie. I am asking that you please spread the word via emails, word of mouth and this website http://kissesforcallie.blogspot.com/ If you have a blog, please put it on there. My Spaces are great, flyers, or just word of mouth! Please take the opportunity to do some 'fall cleaning' as well. Clean out your closets and donate your items to a great cause! There is also a link on the blog if you would like to make a monetary donation. We are also graciously accepting new items, or donations of services that we are hoping to auction off on the website, or they will be offered at the yard sale at a special table to bring in a higher level of donation. Thanks again for your love, support and prayers!-Lisa McNeil

Just an FYI

Scott called me tonight and told me that there was a white male in his 20's that was murdered in Cambria this morning. He was shot in the face. It happened around 3-3:30am. They are still investigating the whole case so there isnt much more info I can give you but I wanted everyone to be aware and a little more careful. Lock your doors day and night, be aware of your surroundings, know where your kids are at all times. Dont freak out on me but I just wanted to get the word out to BE CAREFUL AND AWARE!!

Lets here it for our 100th post!!!

Happy 100th Post!

We have a very cute hall bench and end table that we just don't have room for. If you want them, they're yours! Fred can even bring them by for you. It kills me to get rid of the hall bench, but we just can't seem to squeeze it anywhere in the new house :(

The dimensions of the hall bench are 71" tall, 41" wide, 18" deep
The dimensions of the end table are 22" square by 21" tall

Please be careful if you go to the AJ Pool in the next few weeks. We were there today and a little girl got seriously hurt on the water slide (the red, tube one to be specific). She hit her head somewhere inside the slide and came out unresponsive into the water. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance. It is very likely she had suffered a concussion. After speaking to an adult friend of the girl's family (they were sitting just next to us on the grass), the woman said pool staff said the same thing happened just YESTERDAY too! There appears to be a dangerous curve in the slide that, if hit at the right angle, kids have been bumping their heads. The slide was closed for the rest of today and hopefully until they can get it fixed. Please just be careful!

It's lots of fun and it's sponsored so there is no cost!
Also... my husband and I just got a co-ed softball league together and are looking for other ladies/guys to play. Games start in two weeks and will be played at Crismon and Southern- again no cost since it is sponsored. Games nights are Wednesday and they are double headers so two games a night- either 6:30/7:30 or 8:30/9:30.
E-mail me at amanda.hall85@gmail.com if you're interested or for more information.

The kids and I are making our annual trip to Pittsburgh in June and we'll be needing a ride to and from the airport. Fred will still be gone at training camp and I don't like leaving my car at a parking place (and it's expensive!!). Our flight leaves on Saturday, June 7th at 6:10am. *GASP!!* I know it's early. We'll probably need to be there by 5:00am. Yes, believe me, I know, I don't even want to be awake at that time!!!We'll be getting back to Phoenix on Tuesday, June 23 at 11:25pm. I'll totally chip in for gas and for your hassle. Give me a call at 655-5919 or email me at JFandEli@aol.comThanks so much!!!

Formula

Hi! One of my friends just had a baby. Her mom came to visit from Mexico to help out and brought all these huge cans of Enfamil formula for the new grandbaby. Turns out, the baby has problems digesting the Enfamil- so my friend (the mom) would like to sell them and use the money to buy other formula. Apparently you are not allowed to return items in mexico like you can here in the United States. so...if you are interested- please contact me at karebear_f2@hotmail.com the formula: the pink colored canister is 900 grams which equals 32 oz. It is the exact same formula of Enfamil with iron (notice the mead johnson label on the side) it is just in spanish. it has never been opened, and it expires in 2010. it is meant for infant age up to 6 months. the purple canister is also 900 grams which equals 32 oz. it is the same formula of Enfamil with Iron. it is meant for 6 months of age up to 1 year. ( i assume in mexico they automatically begin adding the other nutrients that our Enfamil one year+ canisters have for the toddler stage). it expires in 2010. These are coming from a smoke free LDS (mormon) home. each canister will be $30.00 i have one canister of the pink and one of the purple. and just if you're curious- target's 25.7 oz canisters are $25.60 which is $0.99 per ounce. Costco's 38 oz canisters are $32.49 which is $0.85 per ounce. so these 32 oz canisters that we want to sell at $30 each would mean $0.93 per ounce.

Any cat lovers?

We have had our third baby and are busier than ever. Roxy and Dyna deserve better- more attention.
Roxy is a striped dark tabby. she is about 3 1/2 years old. She is current on shots, she is micro chipped, and she is spayed. She loves to play in the water and will sleep on your pillow occasionally and at the side of your bed most times. I adopted her the fall of 2006 from a wonderful loving home after losing our second child to a chromosome problem. I drove over two hours to go pick her up and have loved her every minute since then. She helped me tremendously through my mourning.
Dyna is a pure white cat that I adopted from a 'cat infested' home. She was overrun with ear mites and had no medical attention whatsoever. I healed her up and made her healthy. She is due for her next set of shots. She is also spayed and micro chipped. she is about 1 1/2 years old. I adopted her because my previous white cat had passed away from a type of cancer and Roxy was crying for weeks because Roxy didn't have her 'friend'. Both cats are tremendously wonderful with kids. Both cats have all their claws but have been indoor cats their entire lives. I request that they continue to be indoor cats for the sake of their safety and health. I am TRYING MY BEST to re-home them TOGETHER for FREE!. please contact me at karebear_f2@hotmail.com

Sleep a little better tonight.....

This was in the Tribune last week and we wanted everyone to know about it if you hadnt heard about it yet. To be completely honest, there was a picture of him in the newspaper and he is a normal looking 24 year old. That makes it even worse. You cant be too sure now a days.
A suspected serial child molester was arrested near Queen Creek on Wednesday night after one of his alleged victims spotted him at a park and neighbors chased him down, authorities said.
Pinal County Sheriff Chris Vazquez said Matthew Alan Clack, 24, was arrested by deputies after a 13-year-old victim from a July molestation and attempted kidnapping case recognized Clack at a Pecan Creek neighborhood park and yelled out "that’s him."
"When she did, several citizens went in a foot chase of him — chasing him in and around houses," he said. "They dialed 911 and after a very fast response time from deputies in that area, we were able to help the citizens to apprehend Clack."
Over the summer, a series of molestations and attempted kidnappings took place in the Castlegate and Pecan Creek neighborhoods in an unincorporated area east of Queen Creek.
"Ever since the initial incident happened in July the community has really been on alert," Vasquez said. "They can now, I believe, breathe a sigh of relief that a child predator is no longer roaming the streets."
Clack may be responsible for at least five attempted or actual molestations in the Johnson Ranch, Queen Creek and Mesa areas, Vasquez said.
"Based on our interview with him, he admitted that he does have a serious problem, and he admitted to as many as five attempts or actual molestations," he said.
Clack was booked into Pinal County Jail on felony charges of sexual assault and attempted kidnapping for the July case.
Dena Larsen, the blockwatch coordinator for Pecan Creek, said she got goose bumps when she heard about the arrest.
"The fact that there was an arrest made, solidified to me, that we do have dangerous things happening out there, and we can’t turn a blind eye," she said. "I’m glad there’s another person off the street that’s causing harm."
Larsen, a mother of two young girls, said she hopes some residents in the area see this as an "eye-opener" because she’s seen little supervision of children in the neighborhood.
"Parents need to look at what is lurking out there," she said. "There is a risk, and it’s right here in our own backyard."
Vasquez called this case "a prime example of a community working together with law enforcement" and said neighbors who helped catch Clack "should be proud of themselves."
Vasquez said his department, along with other agencies, are trying to track down others Clack may have attacked. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Lisa Swinton at (520) 866-5149.

Rent to own

We're looking to rent out our house. We would love to do a rent-to-own with a family who needs it (perhaps rent it while they are building their credit up to buy it). It's a 5-bdrm 3-bath 2800 square foot home with a great lot and a pool. Did I mention the theater room (YES, the equipment will stay for you! woo hoo) We're downsizing (we're even staying in the ward!!) and we know that selling is tough right now. But if anyone knows someone who is looking to rent.... please pass us along! As for a monthly payment, we're pretty much only going to ask to cover our mortgage and HOA fees. You can view pictures at http://buyowner.com/ARZ1750.html
Give Fred or Jeanette a call to talk about the details. 480-655-5919

Any sewers out there?

Hi everyone

I was just wondering if you could pass on this email to other sisters or perhaps just ask around if anyone would be willing to help a highschool girl make a prom dress. I work with her and she is not a member however she is having a hard time finding a dress and thought if she paid someone to make it she would be happier. She already has the pattern and has the material picked out. If you know of anyone who makes dresses please let me know:)

A favor to ask, it only takes a minute....
Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "donating a mammogram" for free (pink window in the middle). This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know. http://www.thebreastcancersite.com.
Thanks,
Kourtney

IntenSati-cant wait to try it!

I wanted to pass on something I "stumbled" across, and feel is so amazing. A lady named Patricia Moreno, a fitness instructor, has created something called IntenSati. It's a high energy/cardio workout that is amazing. (& it's easy to follow, because even I got the hang of it and did it!) It combines martial arts, exercise, yoga and spoken meditation. I will simply say this: It's POWERFUL. I can't explain how powerful the spoken meditation is...combining a workout with spoken positive intentions- it feels amazing! I highly recommend spending the $12-15 on this DVD :-} The website is: www.intensati.com and the DVD is: 'Intention & Power: A high energy workout for Body, Mind & Soul' (I bought mine at Sprouts, but I found it later on Amazon.com for $12.99)
A side note: I am not even one for DVD's, I would much rather take my 10 mile bike ride to workout-- but this DVD is sweet. Your mind will crave it! If you focus like it intends you to focus, you will feel, and release, and love, and intend, and become! I can't think of a better workout, than one that puts your mind and spirit into a peaceful state as you do. And I can't imagine anyone not loving this. I wake up every morning and can't wait to do it. Something helpful, if you have little kiddos, do it early morning, or after you put kids to bed - you need to be able to focus on it.
ENJOY!

Who knew that bread ties make a difference?

When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you "squeeze" for freshness or softness? Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday? Each day has a different color twist tie. They are:
Monday= Blue, Tuesday = Green, Wednesday = no delivery, Thursday = Red, Friday = White, Saturday = Yellow. *yellow* So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors go alphabetically by color: Blue-Green- Red -White -Yellow- Monday through Saturday! Very easy to remember. I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even the ones with the plastic clips have different colors. You learn something new everyday! Enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping.

Bodies needed!

This comment was left and I wanted to make sure everyone could read it! Read this and then read my previous post about service! ; )
Some of you might know that on February 2nd, there are quite a few activities to help raise money for children with cancer. This event started three years ago when London Solomon from the Orchard Ranch ward died of cancer at the age of ten. Each year more and more families are sponsoring events that day to raise money. There is a fun run, a 1/2 marathon, a blood drive, a breakfast, a BBQ, a horse trail ride, and others that are being done in the name of London's Run. I talked to London's mom, Heather Solomon, and the committee has decided to donate all of the money raised at the breakfast and possibly some other events to go to Troy Wendt in our ward. In trade I was asked to "man" two of the water stations for the 1/2 marathon. All we have to supply is the bodies for the stations and the committee will supply the rest. If you would like to volunteer yourself and possibly your family to help man one of the stations, please let me know soon. It is a fun day and hopefully your family will participate in some of the other activities being sponsored that day. Here is the webpage http://www.londonsrun.org/index.html Thanks! Ray Turley

Service quote of the day

"Stretching our souls in service helps us to rise above our cares, concerns, and challenges. As we focus our energies on lifting the burdensof others, something miraculous happens. Our own burdens diminish. We become happier. There is more substance to our lives."
When I read this quote this morning, it hit me like a ton of bricks! It is so true. I know from personal experience that when I focus my time and energy on someone other then myself, I forget about my own trials and worries. They definately dont got away but they are easier to deal with.

Send it my way

Anyone have something they want to post on here? Selling something? Looking for something? Favorite recipe or new toy? Email me at smurkov@aol.com and I will add it on here for you! (I am running out of ideas to blog about)

You HAVE to try it!

I am slowly but surely going ORGANIC. We all have our own thoughts and feelings about the subject but I had to tell everyone about this AWESOME product I recently discovered. It is called BATTER BLASTER and is all organic. It is pancakes/waffles in a can. Kinda weird, I thought so too at first, until I tried it. It is SUPER yummy, even Scott likes it! We had it for dinner last night and breakfast this morning. I cant get enough of this stuff. You can buy it at Costco, AJ's and Smart and Final. At Costco, I bought 3 cans for around $9. You get it in the cold foods section. Go to http://www.batterblaster.com/ for more info. about it and they have a super short demonstration video you can watch.

A GREAT cookbook!

This is my new favorite cookbook. I saw Jessica Seinfeld (Jerry's wife) on Oprah and that was the first time I had heard of this. It is a cookbook on how to incorporate pureed veggies into your food, desserts, main courses, snacks etc.! It is super easy and doesnt take long to do. AND, you know that even though your kids are eating brownies or pastas, they are getting something healthy too! The cheapest place I found this was at Costco for $14.50 (ish) but you can also get it at Target or online. Happy cooking!!

Great way to start the day!

Ever heard of the 'daily gems'? On lds.org you can sign up to receive daily emails (gems) with quotes & inspirational thoughts for your day. Click on www.lds.org , click on news and events, then click on free news, gems email subscription. It is super easy and a great way to start off the day!

Here is a great one from a recent email...."As we study and ponder, we are entitled to the promptings of theSpirit, and as we grow more attentive to these promptings, we come to recognize each day the workings of the Lord in our lives. We will find Him, as Elder Neal A. Maxwell stated, 'in the details of our lives'("Becoming a Disciple," Ensign, June 1996, 19). And when that recognition comes, we feel His peace and recognize that we are truly encircled in the arms of His love."

Seriously?

Since I posted my last post, I have talked to probably 7 or 8 people in the neighborhood who either read my post or heard about it and had something similar happen to them! Are you kidding me? What in the world is going on here? We have lived here for over 2 years and have NEVER had anything happen to us until now. Infact, I was just talking to JaNae today and she told me that they went for a walk for 20 minutes this past Saturday and came home to her big star on the front of her house GONE!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be more aware of your surroundings and who is around you. Not only for you but also for your neighbors. I am known as the 'Circle Watch' person because I am always looking out the window at what is going on in my frontyard as well as my neighbors. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I always look out the window and see if anything is going on. I just wanted everyone to know that the GRINCH is still around and to keep your eyes open!
